Arts for Roma Children

“Romani people are people who live traditionally according to the heart, with the impulse, with the intuitive knowledge, their knowledge of the life of human beings are direct, they don’t start from a previous text. They have spontaneity, they improvise and they have a lot to teach us. They will present values that are totally different from the recognized, accepted values of our time.”

I SUPPORT

I used to often go to live concerts and I want to support culture and the arts without having to eat pastas for next days.

I think this initiative is amazing and I’d like to watch more exclusive live sessions. Or I’m the mum or dad of a musician performing.

I SUPPORT SMARTLY

I finally understood the principle of tax deduction and I know that for 40 € I will actually pay 22 €.*

Art4Rom

Art4ROM, a project about children, learning, art, innovation and integration.

This project funded by the European Commission was initiated by IYMF in 2013 to promote intercultural dialogue between Roma and non-Roma children through art. It encourages intercultural dialogue, mutual understanding and social inclusion of children (Roma and non-Roma) through an innovative educational methodology based on artistic practice in school and non-school environments. Roma and non-Roma children were involved in concrete and innovative artistic activities including dance, singing, music making, etc. Ultimately, the project contributed to maximize Roma access to education.

In addition, the successful implementation of non-formal educational tools, such as music, dance, singing and visual arts, enhanced the active citizenship of the Roma people.

UCREATE

UCREATE is a project supported by the Creative Europe programme of the European Commission in which 4 cultural organisations located in Belgium (International Yehudi Menuhin Foundation), Hungary (MUS-E Hungary), Italy (Big Sur) and Portugal (Hangar) initiate an artistic project aiming at facilitating the social inclusion of young (19-27 years old) newcomers to Europe and creating spaces for exchange, encounter and co-creation between these young artists and the local communities. Each of the partner organisations is specialised in one artistic discipline (i.e., film, photography, art education, music).

From the 4th until the 9th of October 2021, the IYMF hold a musical residency for young newcomers from the Red-Cross and Fedasil reception centres of asylum seekers in Belgium.

Musical creation workshops have been led by four professional musicians and artists and given to 8 young aspiring musicians who are newcomers to Belgium.

The objective of the UCREATE project, which includes the residency, is to facilitate the social inclusion of young migrants and refugees in European societies by enabling the creation of social connections between local populations and newcomers in four European countries through artistic creation.

META – Minorities Education Through the Arts

An inclusive Europe of cultures and people cannot afford that still too many children from disadvantaged backgrounds leave school very early, even without completing minimal educational curses. As education experts and activitists for change, we cannot accept that children with migrant background or belonging to minorities groups are disproportionally overrepresented amongst early school leavers and belong to the lowest performing percentiles because they have a number of critical, and specific, education needs that are not currently met through mainstream education policy. META therefore aims at providing an in-depth knowledge of effective methodologies and tools that use different art forms to reduce disparities in learning effecting pre-primary and primary students from minorities groups including Roma and developing an innovative and collaborative teaching and learning methodology for European teachers that will contribute to social cohesion, European citizenship social economic inclusion and economic growth.

Concert With You

Concertwithyou was born from the need to support musicians who can no longer perform on stage. The pandemic has exposed artists to precarity and giving a voice to musicians who are voiceless is one of the priorities of the International Yehudi Menuhin Foundation.

Every two weeks, you will discover three artists from different musical universe and genres but just as talented.

More than ever, we need your support to continue helping musicians, maintaining, and developing this platform. Every donation, no matters the amount, will help supporting music. All donations collected will serve at remunerating musicians to produce a video of a song from their repertoire.

Donations of at least 40 euros made to the King Baudouin Foundation give rise to a tax reduction of 45% of the amount actually paid.

Together we can help artist to blossom!

Enjoy the show.
